Lemay + Escobar’s extraordinary design for the 41-story, boutique-style Aliz Hotel Times Square shatters the status quo of Manhattan’s Garment District, which typically offers mid-range accommodation. Aliz’s breathtakingly different, ultra-luxurious approach makes it stand out from every perspective, on a block already packed with a dozen chain-style counterparts.
From the moment guests walk in, they are taken on an intriguing, multilayered journey through a romantic, speakeasy-style lobby, crowned with a Murano-style vintage chandelier and contrasting cage of 20 LED fixtures; a dramatically dark lounge with rich leather and marble surfaces; a ground-floor restaurant with a casual, distressed style thoroughly unlike the rest of the spaces; and some 300 sumptuous guest rooms with European couture style. The one-of-a-kind décor evokes the music and art of the nearby Theatre District: an intimate, curated feel that resonates particularly well with young working professionals.
