Lemay’s design for an observation tower calls for vertically assembled hewn and articulated logs, which allow the monument to blend into the forest landscape. The tower encourages upward movement, punctuated by a duality of sombre alcoves and luminous lookout points. It is a place to discover the natural riches and heritage buildings of the island, the flow of the powerful St. Lawrence River and in the distance, the Montreal cityscape.
